Things happening today are quite frightening. This is a very new and unknown experience for most everyone. Personally, I found this meme to be extremely accurate to what is going on right now. Essentially, life was put on pause. Stores are closed, social gatherings are not allowed, unnecessary travel is not encouraged, social distancing is what we are practicing right now. This is quite a big jump from what life was just a few short weeks ago. Three weeks ago I was at school, with all my friends, excitedly awaiting my spring break trip. The things that happened between now and then still seem so surreal to me. Not only did in person classes come to an end and my spring break trip cancelled, but like at home is an indefinite thing now. What started as an until early April precaution turned into the rest of the semester. Though I always enjoyed my time to myself, I find myself deeply missing the social interactions; hence the meme. Though it is not funny to make jokes of “testing positive” for something in these times, it is extremely relevant to today. I think the scariest part of everything is not knowing when it will be okay; not knowing when we can see our friends again, when we can go out to eat again, when normal life will resume.
Hi Meredith,
This meme resonates with me as well, it accurately summarizes just about everyone’s feelings right now. Near total social isolation is not healthy for the body or the mind. The fear and grief of not knowing when this will end or when it will affect us personally is horrible and something we will all overcome.
