You’ve heard of the freshman 15…well here’s the quarantine 15.
I’m sure that I am not alone in this when I say that my snacking has skyrocketed since being in quarantine.
That being said, I am not here to shame anyone or make anyone feel bad for the ways they are coping with these incredibly trying times.
Personally, I have made some efforts to reduce the snacking or at least turn to healthier options.
Something I have done is get up at 9:30 every morning and go for at least a 5 mile walk. Not only does this set my day off with achieving the recommended goal of steps, but it also forces me to get up and out of bed. By kick starting the day with getting up and getting out I then have more motivation to get things done besides sitting and snacking all day.
However, I am not perfect. Despite walking every morning, I still find myself eating out of boredom. Since I know that will happen, I keep healthier options to snack on in plain sight, making it more likely to grab first.
Here are some of my favorites:
Raspberries with a dark chocolate chip in the middle
- this satisfies my sweet cravings!
Cucumber/carrots with (or without) hummus
- the cucumber and carrots provide the crunch of a snack
Chia Pudding
- this is a fun, sweet, healthy treat!
