Thinking of Going vs Actually Going

More often than not, I plan to go to the gym but fail to follow through with it. I will spend the whole day saying I want to make it to the gym, but find that I don’t have time or am too tired at the end of the day.

Something I realized about myself is that I am dependent on others. When it comes to the gym, I am almost afraid of going to the gym alone, and therefore I avoid going. I don’t need to go with someone and do the same workout; just physically having someone to walk in and walk out with is nice.

I found the key to getting myself to shift from thinking to actually going: fitness classes.

I find comfort in being told/shown the exercise to do and being surrounded by others doing the same exact thing. Even though I may not know anyone, it is nice to have people to workout with; almost as a source of motivation.

The RU Rec app lists all the classes offered for the day, where they are, who teaches them, and a brief description of what the class is. I have found this really helpful as well as really enjoyable to find new workouts to do in a group setting!

A fun perk for students…the classes are free!
